西汉黄龙元年（公元前49年）复置楚国（1），治彭城县（江苏铜山县），东汉永平十三年（70年）楚国除为郡（2）。
注：
（1）周振鹤《西汉政区地理》上篇第一章第三节《景帝三年以后楚国沿革》：“地节元年，楚王延寿谋反，国除为彭城郡，黄龙元年。复置楚国，宣帝子定陶王嚣徙为楚孝王。成帝河平三年及阳朔二年各封楚孝王子侯国一：广戚，《汉书·地理志》属沛郡；阴平，《汉书·地理志》属东海郡。”（同上引书，28页）
（2）《后汉书》卷2《明帝纪》：永平十三年十一有，“楚王英谋反，废，国除，迁于泾县。”（北京，中华书局，1965年，1册，117页）
